Dorothy Kelley is a true fighter and just celebrated her 99th birthday on May 11th. She was on hospice twice but was taken off before she was diagnosed with COVID. She kept up her positive spirits, beat COVID, is now recovered and back to enjoying her activities. “She likes to color, is very loving, and prefers to be called Gram” said her unit nurse manager, Valonda.

Dorothy has been a long-term care resident at Bartley Healthcare, located in Jackson, NJ on our Memory Care Unit since January 2017.

Dorothy has four children, ten grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Her family describes her as someone who loves music, always smiling, and is most of all devoted to her family.

Dorothy’s daughter, Karen, wrote a letter to the staff at Bartley Healthcare thanking them for taking such special care of her mother.  She stated, “Without any family members there with her, we could only rely on the wonderful Nurses and Staff to give her the loving care that she needed to recover. They became an extension of us – her family.  We are so grateful to her Nurses Valonda, Patricia, and the entire staff in Cedar Wing for the time they took to stay in touch with us with phone calls, pictures and face time visits with Mom.”

Dorothy, we look forward to celebrating your 100th birthday!
