Bartley Healthcare's 8th Annual Toys For Tots Drive A Success

Shortly after the Thanksgiving holiday the Bartley Healthcare campus began to receive unwrapped toys for children of all ages from their employees, residents and families members, as well as members of the Jackson community for the TOYS FOR TOTS nationwide drive headed by the Marine Corps Reserve. This is the 58th year that the drive provided holiday cheer to underprivileged children.

Santa greeted two Marine Corps reservists in the lobby of Bartley Healthcare and presented them with hundreds of toys. “The Marines commented that two stops before ours came up short and they were very pleased with our efforts. Each year the generosity of our staff has made the Toys For Tots drive a huge success”, said Joanne Ryan, Administrator of Bartley Healthcare Nursing and Rehabilitation. More than 300 toys were collected in total.

For eight years, the Bartley Healthcare campus has opened its doors to the community as a host drop-off site for the Toys For Tots drive. This year an anonymous donor from the Jackson Community dropped off three cases of action figures from various sport teams, to the lobby of The Orchards at Bartley Assisted Living. “ We have found each year that we receive fewer toys for older children”, said Chris Barcellona, Executive Director of The Orchards. “The sports figures from the anonymous donor filled the gap”.

Bartley Healthcare is host site to the Toys For Tots program as part of their continuing commitment towards community support. While the population they serve are seniors, Bartley Healthcare also supports other children programs such as The Jackson High School Scholarship Fund and sporting sponsorships. They are also sponsors of the Alzheimer’s Associations annual Memory Walk.
