Bartley Healthcare Celebrates Seventh Annual Family Fun Day

Jackson, NJ — On Saturday, October 6, 2007, Bartley Healthcare celebrated its seventh Family Fun Day, a day devoted to celebrating community spirit and Bartley’s gratitude for community support it receives. This year’s event drew more than 1,000 people. For the sixth year Commerce Bank joined Bartley as a major sponsor for the event.

Children enjoyed rides, games, pony rides, popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones and musical entertainment. Residents of Bartley Healthcare and their families joined the fun and took pleasure in watching the children laughing on the rides, coloring pumpkins, playing games and just having a great time.

“We look forward to this special day every year,” said Trish Mazejy, Vice President of Business Development and organizer of the event. “The community has always supported Family Fun Day and this year was no exception”.

As it has done every year at Family Fun Day, Bartley welcomed food and cash donations for the Jackson Food Pantry. This year’s donations were especially needed in light of the devastating fire recently suffered by the Food Pantry. Donation jars to raise money for the Food Pantry collected $700. Bartley Healthcare matched double that amount for a $2,100 donation to help the Food Pantry in its recovery efforts. Additionally, 100 bags of food were donated to the food pantry. “We are so thankful that Bartley continues to support the Food Pantry through this event,” said Phyllis Lewis, Director of the food pantry. “The amount of food collected exhibits Bartley’s ongoing support of the community.”

The Jackson Police Department participated with its D.A.R.E. Patrol Car and Child Identification Program and the Jackson Volunteer Fire Department brought two fire trucks and welcomed children to try on the Fire Department gear and sit in the trucks. Kids imagined they were princesses, butterflies, tigers, Spiderman, the Hulk and more through the talented face-painting volunteers from the Jackson Memorial High School Honors Art Department.

Since its inception in 1985, Bartley Healthcare campus has maintained a strong commitment to community service and participation by it’s contributions to the community and charitable causes and also by making available its facilities and 22-acre campus for community and professional events. This commitment is part of Bartley’s mission to understand and meet the unique needs of the senior residents of it’s community by paying close attention to the details that enhance the quality of their lives in an enriched environment. This commitment to their residents and the community has resulted in Bartley raising and contributing more than $ 125,000 for such charities as the Alzheimer’s Association, American Cancer Society, Red Cross, hospitals, local charitable and civic organizations such as the Jackson Food Pantry, Jackson High School Scholarship Fund and youth sports.
