Healthcare's Dedication to Continuous Quality Improvement Earns
Recognition
JACKSON, NJ AUGUST 23, 2007 - Bartley
Healthcare is one of three long-term care facilities in New Jersey that
has earned a Quality Award from the American Health Care Association (AHCA)
and the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) for demonstrating its
strong commitment to continuous quality improvement.
Bartley Healthcare received a 2007 Step I Quality Award. All of the
facilities that applied for this award addressed how they integrated the
elements of systematic continuous quality improvement into their
operations. As a Step I recipient, Bartley Healthcare demonstrated its
organization-wide commitment to a person-centered mission, defined its
principal customers and their expectations, and indicated how it is
striving to meet their needs.
Established in 1985, Bartley Healthcare, a 230 bed comprehensive
healthcare facility located in suburban Jackson, New Jersey, provides long
term, subacute, outpatient rehabilitation, hospice, and respite care.
Bartley Healthcare is situated on 20 acres of a beautifully landscaped
campus with the Orchards at Bartley, the Assisted Living residence that
won the 2006 Step I Quality Award.
“Our Quality Award is the most prestigious recognition of quality within
the long term care profession,” stated AHCA/NCAL President and CEO, Bruce
Yarwood. “This facility's achievement places it at the forefront of
organizational and performance excellence, where the mission of quality
care for the elderly and disabled is vigorously pursued.”
“Bartley Healthcare's achievement shows that dedicated frontline
caregivers, administrators, nurses and physicians are demonstrating their
commitment to quality of care and to meeting residents' needs,” continued
Yarwood. The Quality Awards are part of AHCA/NCAL's Quality First, an
initiative to demonstrate the long term care community's commitment to a
person-centered environment of quality and choice.
AHCA/NCAL's Quality Award was created in 1996 and is modeled after the
criteria of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the nation's
premier award recognizing distinguished achievements. AHCA/NCAL's award is
designed to support both continuous quality improvement efforts in long
term care by promoting quality awareness and education and to recognize
quality achievements.
A ceremony for award recipients will be held during AHCA/NCAL's Annual
Convention and Exposition, October 7-10, in Boston, MA.
The American Health Care Association and the
National Center for Assisted Living are the nation's leading long term
care organizations. AHCA/NCAL and their membership are committed to
performance excellence and Quality First, a covenant for healthy,
affordable and ethical long term care. AHCA/NCAL represent nearly 11,000
non-profit and proprietary facilities dedicated to continuous improvement
in the delivery of professional and compassionate care provided daily by
caring employees to more than 1.5 million of our nation's frail, elderly
and disabled citizens who live in nursing facilities, assisted living
residences, subacute centers and homes for persons with mental retardation
and developmental disabilities
