On September 15th, The Orchards at Bartley Assisted Living had their grand opening of their greenhouse, during National Assisted Living Week. The ribbon has officially been cut!
As a tranquil sitting area, the greenhouse holds a wide variety of plants, to be taken care of by the residents. The greenhouse contains a lemon tree, a palm tree, ferns, many kinds of herbs, ivy, cacti, and angle plants. Orchards residents also made a beautiful fairy garden out of a bird cage.
The greenhouse has become a community project with residents taking turns, diligently watering the plants, and growing plants that will enable residents at the Orchards to enjoy the farm to table, when the herbs and lemon tree start producing the fruits of their labor!
“It has been a treat to watch this room transform into a greenhouse, and to see all of the teamwork and cooperation of everyone watering, and taking care of our plants. There is such a wide variety of plants in the greenhouse, and we truly could not be happier about this addition to The Orchards”, thankfully stated resident Loretta Carey.
